Job description

  • $85–$185 per hour
  • 100% remote
  • Part-time
  • Fully flexible schedule

Create and evaluate difficult semiconductor engineering problems, solutions and grading standards on your own schedule.

AI systems need semiconductor engineers to create and assess difficult technical problems. You build problems around practical constraints and supply the data needed to solve them, then write solutions that another engineer can check and establish objective standards for assessing answers. You review other contributors' work, flag problems that cannot be graded reliably, and assess plausible technical answers through your semiconductor expertise. This is that work, done remotely around your schedule.

What you'll do

  • Develop semiconductor engineering problems built around practical constraints and supplied data
  • Write technically accurate solutions that another engineer can check
  • Set objective criteria for assessing answers and flag problems that cannot be graded reliably
  • Review other contributors' problems and assess plausible technical answers using your semiconductor expertise

Requirements & qualifications

  • Who this is for
  • A master's or PhD degree in a closely related field, electrical engineering, materials science, or applied physics
  • Principal-, staff-, or fellow-level experience with a major semiconductor company, or an appointment to the faculty of a leading university
  • Deep expertise plus hands-on ownership across at least one semiconductor area, including reliability, yield, packaging, lithography, circuit design, process integration, or device physics, and professional fluency in English
  • No AI experience needed. Experience with AI or large language model evaluation is helpful, not required.

Benefits

  • Why this is worth your time
  • Get paid $85–$185 an hour
  • Work on semiconductor engineering problems grounded in practical constraints and supplied data
  • Choose a flexible commitment that fits alongside your current role
  • Fully remote and flexible, no fixed shifts, no commute
  • Pay and details
  • $85–$185 per hour, paid hourly as an independent contractor
  • Part-time, flexible schedule; fully remote, United States
