    Manager to spearhead our efforts in securing high-value contracts. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the entire tendering lifecycle, managing key client accounts, and implementing strategies to achieve significant growth in our construction portfolio.

    Key Responsibilities
    Tendering & Bid Management (CRITICAL REQUIREMENT)
    • Lead the full tender life cycle from opportunity identification and expression of interest (EOI) to final contract submission and negotiation.
    • Analyze complex construction tender documents (e.g., FIDIC contracts, BOQs, technical specifications) to determine scope, risk, and commercial viability.
    • Develop winning technical proposals and methodologies for construction projects, including:
    o Construction Work Methodologies and Quality Assurance Plans.
    o Detailed Project Schedules (Gantt Charts, Primavera/MS Project) and Resource Mobilization Plans.
    o Compliance matrices and technical specification adherence.
    • Manage cross-functional collaboration with Site Engineers, Estimators, and the Finance team to ensure bids are technically accurate and commercially competitive.
    Business Development & Client Acquisition
    • Formulate and execute a strategic growth plan targeting major clients in the public (Government, UN agencies, NGOs) and private (Industrial, Real Estate) sectors.
    • Identify, track, and nurture a robust pipeline of construction opportunities in civil works, vertical building, and specialized projects.
    • Conduct continuous market and competitor analysis to position Maxweld as the preferred contractor.
    Relationship Management
    • Cultivate and sustain long-term, high-level relationships with key clients, consultants, and procurement officials.
    • Represent Maxweld Construction in all pre-bid meetings, site visits, and final contract negotiation sessions.
    • Gather market intelligence and client feedback to inform service offerings and enhance client retention.

    Requirements

    • Essential: Bachelor\'s degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related technical field.
    • Highly Desirable: Master\'s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a qualification in Project Management (PMP/PRINCE2).
    • Minimum of 5 years’ progressive experience in technical sales, tendering, or bid management within the Construction or Engineering sector.
    • Demonstrable and successful track record in securing competitive contracts (e.g., $1M+ USD) in Uganda.
    • Exceptional technical and contractual knowledge of construction documentation and industry standards.
    • Superior communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical solutions to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in project scheduling software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6) and advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Experience working with international development agencies, multilateral organizations (e.g., UN, World Bank), and major Ugandan Ministries/Agencies is a strong advantage.
