    Job Title: Director – Electrical Engineering

    Job Summary:

    The Director – Electrical Engineering is a senior executive responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and oversight of all electrical systems and operations within the organization. With 30 years of extensive experience, this leader will manage electrical design, maintenance, energy systems, automation, and infrastructure projects, ensuring reliability, safety, compliance, and efficiency across all sites or facilities.

    Key Responsibilities:
    Strategic & Technical Leadership

    Develop and execute long-term electrical engineering strategies aligned with business goals.

    Provide expert advice on energy systems, electrical design, and technological innovation.

    Lead engineering input for capital projects, infrastructure upgrades, and plant expansions.

    Operations & Maintenance

    Oversee the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems including HT/LT power distribution, switchgear, transformers, generators, control panels, and automation systems.

    Ensure high system availability through robust preventive and predictive maintenance programs.

    Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and resolution of critical electrical faults or failures.

    Project Execution

    Direct the planning, budgeting, design, installation, and commissioning of electrical systems in greenfield and brownfield projects.

    Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to international quality standards.

    Coordinate with civil, mechanical, automation, and safety departments for integrated project execution.

    Compliance, Safety & Standards

    Ensure full compliance with local and international electrical safety standards and codes (e.g., IEC, NEC, IS, OSHA).

    Lead internal audits, safety inspections, and corrective action plans for electrical operations.

    Promote a culture of safety and accountability across all levels of the electrical team.

    Energy Management & Sustainability

    Monitor and optimize power consumption across all operations.

    Lead initiatives for energy conservation, renewable integration (e.g., solar, wind), and cost reduction.

    Develop and track energy KPIs to support sustainability goals.

    Team Management & Development

    Lead and develop a team of electrical engineers, supervisors, and technicians.

    Identify skills gaps and provide training, mentoring, and career development support.

    Build a high-performance culture within the electrical department.

    Vendor & Budget Management

    Manage relationships with electrical OEMs, EPC contractors, and service providers.

    Review and approve technical specifications, BOQs, and contracts.

    Prepare and manage departmental budgets, including CapEx and OpEx planning.

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (B.E. / B.Tech / M.E. / M.Tech).

    30+ years of hands-on and leadership experience in electrical engineering and operations.

    Strong exposure to large-scale industrial, utility, or infrastructure environments.

    Key Skills & Competencies:

    Electrical design, power distribution, and control systems

    Strong knowledge of electrical codes, safety, and compliance

    Team leadership and cross-functional coordination

    Budgeting and cost control

    Energy management and sustainability

    ERP/CMMS proficiency (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Maximo)

    Preferred Certifications (Optional):

    Chartered Electrical Engineer / Licensed Engineer

    Certified Energy Manager (CEM)

    PMP / Project Management Certification

    NEBOSH / ISO 45001 Safety Certifications
